We had a peculiar situation that needed special attention. The honorable vice consul was involved and handled it with grace, fairness and professionalism. As an American citizen I'm proud to have people like him and the rest of the staff at this facility represent my country abroad. God Bless...

As efficient and friendly as any place requiring this level of security can be. From document check to security screening to visa interview to approval took under 30 minutes. Staff efficient and friendly too.

The screening staff (the two big men) were absolutely rude, it made me feel they get paid to offend people. Aggressive and impatient when handling items as well.

The staff there were organized and efficient and things moved quite quickly. The only downside was I had to wait around 45 minutes to be interviewed, as there were only 2 counters open and each interview took 5 - 15 minutes and there were around 30 people waiting. The layout of the consulate was also quite confusing, but staff were there to help direct you and provide assistance if needed. There also seemed to be excessive security, as upon entry police cops were present and there were security guards at literally every corner. I understand why such security is necessary, but having lots of security also creates quite an intense atmosphere and can be quite intimidating and nerve wracking for visa applicants. Furthermore, their website says that there is no storage facility for phones and you will be refused entry if you have one. However, this was not true - there was storage available there. I arranged to have someone look after my phone for me prior to my interview because I thought phones weren't allowed. Things would have been much simpler for me if I was able to just leave my phone with security. Because I didn't have my phone with me prior to the interview, finding the MLC centre was very difficult and I was running around like a headless chicken for around 20 minutes trying to find the center since I could not check my phone for directions. This almost made me late for my appointment. The Consulate needs to make it clearer on their website that there are storage facilities for phones.

US immigration may be a long and painful process, but this Consulate has excellent security personnel and staff. Not what I expected after reading some reviews about this place. The people conducting interviews were professional, courteous and helpful. A staff member was very patient with an applicant ahead of me who had poor English, didn't deny her, clearly explained that they required more documents and how to obtain them. The only downside was I had to wait about 45 minutes in the queue.
