Quite a small museum focused on Sydney's history. It's a little boring if you're not interested in history but for someone who really isn't I had a pretty good time! Good to kill an hour or two and it even has a small restaurant right next door.

Definitely not the best museum I've been to. I wished it was so much more though! I did learn about the history of the country and city, but the exhibitions were mainly just displays. The place seems nicely renovated but the exhibitions seems tired.

Based on my recent experience there when they had the Sand and Lego exhibit. My kids loved it so much. The other exhibits were all for adults (apart from a tiny arts and crafts room) which I found interesting as it had history about Sydney's buildings.

You have to be a history buff. The displays are traditional. The best part is the strong air conditioning and available seating. It is in good proximity of the Sydney Police and Crime Museum and the Barracks, so you can spend a chunk of time in the area if you wish.

The museum is clean and well organized. If you like seen stuffed animal and reading complicated descriptive plaques this is the place for you. They only have 2 levels. Check costs before going there. Paid $15 for an adult entrance.
