Did not like this bar. Big...pretentious. Girl at door had a HORRIBLE attitude. I got in and honestly left after 30 mins. Won't be back. There are better smaller bars in town. Maybe go see it once, then never go back. You won't be missing anything but a lot of attitude. The owners of this place don't know how to combine a cool bar with cool laid back people.

Absolutely over rated, Ultra violent and bouncers that really do bounce people around with no respect. This is turned into a cheap and classless meat market selling overpriced drinks to trouble makers. If the Ivy's mission was to attract classy people, who are more likely to spend the money, they have failed miserably. I have more disposable income than 10 or more of the yobs that are allowed in put together, but I will never step foot in that place again.

Crowded, Rude, Dirty and an overall awful experience. I have never visited a club where the patrons are treated with such contempt. I can definitely say I will not be attending the Ivy ever again. The Security team are disgraceful, and the entire Club reeks of arrogance and pretentiousness.

I've enjoyed several parts of the ivy on different occasions. The steak in the downstairs restaurant was remarkably good, very tender and well seasoned and the cut itself was high quality - good marble-ization, etc. The structure itself draws on the courtyard-style Etruscan villas in ancient Italy, and also incorporates a retro-feel with the colour scheme and textures of the furnishings. The main bar at night plays mainstream music and it is always full. (I don't want to go to a bar or club that isn't full, so I don't mind waiting for a drink.) I visited The Den at the ivy's birthday party last May. The setup was luxurious and decadent. The staff were friendly and the drinks and food were generous. I have enjoyed the pool bar (and changing rooms) on the roof, and was amazed at the complexity of the spaces, and how coherent the entire building is. You feel like you're still at the ivy even when the environment changes. Beautiful. I understand why many say "pretentious," but it is not a normal bar - it is the ultimate in luxury and elegance. You should be so lucky to live in Sydney and enjoy the ivy and the $20 special at Sushi Choo.

I purchased tickets for the Laidback Luke event at Ivy Bar, on the 25th of January 2012. I have to express how completely angry and disappointed I was by the way ticketed patrons were treated at this event. I arrived with friends at the bar at 9:30PM, only to find that there was NO separate line for customers with Tickets. We were told to line up along with everybody else. We proceeded to do so for over one hour, in extreme rain. It was clear the venue had been filled to capacity, even though there were plenty of people in the line who HAD Tickets, but were yet to be allowed into the club. We had to ask ourselves, what was the point of pre-purchasing tickets? We ended up leaving before gaining entry into the club. How is it acceptable that we were made to line up for over an hour, and ultimately leave without entering, even though we purchased tickets?
